Yves Gagnon was founding President and CEO of the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and has held the positions of Associate Vice-President of Research, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and K.C. Irving Chair in Sustainable Development at the Université de Moncton. He has also held the position of Visiting Executive at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Very active in research, Dr. Gagnon is supported through various grants and research contracts. His research and innovation work, done through national and international collaborations, has appeared in over 250 publications and reports, and his contributions have been recognized with several prizes. Regularly solicited as an external expert, he is actively involved in committees, organizations, and Boards of Directors devoted to technological advancement, the development of knowledge and public policies, and economic and community development. Notably, Dr. Gagnon is Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, where he is responsible for papers on wind energy; he is Vice-Chair of the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan); and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO.

After completing his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering in New Brunswick and Quebec, Dr. Gagnon obtained graduate degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Université de Toulouse (DSc). He is a registered engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
