Mr. Robert Brooks is Vice-Chairman of the Executive Management Team of the Bank of Nova Scotia. He joined Scotiabank in 1968 and has held a variety of senior positions in the Finance, Investment Banking, Risk Management and Operations areas. He is currently responsible for the Treasury Function for the Bank’s group of Companies as well as electronic banking and cash management, insurance and corporate mergers and acquisitions activities.

Mr. Brooks is Director of several of the Bank’s subsidiaries and affiliates including Scotiabanc Inc., Scotia Capital Inc., Scotia Merchant Capital Corporation, Scotia Securities Inc., the Bank of Nova Scotia (Asia) Limited, and Maple Trust Company.

Mr. Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Business Administration from University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and a past President of The Empire Club of Canada.

Mr. Brooks also served on the board of The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario from 1993 to 2001, acting as Chair from 1999 to 2000. He has served on the board of The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada from 1998 and began serving as Chairman of the board in February 2008.
