CCA welcomes two new directors

The CCA is pleased to welcome Rachel Wernick and Joe Wong to its Board of Directors. Rachel and Joe joined the Board for their first meeting in June, bringing extensive expertise in governance, public policy, philanthropy, higher education, and strategic leadership.

Their appointments strengthen the Board’s capacity to support the CCA’s mission and help guide the organization as it continues to expand the reach and impact of its work.

Rachel Wernick has held senior leadership roles across the federal public service, including positions at Employment and Social Development Canada, Canadian Heritage, and the Privy Council Office. Throughout her career, she has championed the use of evidence to inform policy and decision-making, while fostering partnerships across government, academia, and the not-for-profit sector.

Joe Wong brings extensive experience in higher education, international engagement, governance, and philanthropy. As Vice-President, International at the University of Toronto, he has advanced major mission-driven partnerships and contributed to the governance and fundraising efforts of numerous educational and charitable organizations.

“Rachel and Joe join the Board at an exciting and pivotal moment for the CCA,” said Soheil Asgarpour, Chair of the Board of Directors. “As Canada faces increasingly complex challenges, the need for trusted, independent evidence has never been greater. Rachel and Joe bring valuable perspectives and deep expertise that will help guide the organization as it builds on its strong foundation and evolves to meet the growing need for trusted knowledge among Canada’s decision-makers.”

The appointments of Rachel and Joe further strengthen the Board’s ability to support the CCA as it evolves to meet the growing need for trusted knowledge among Canada’s decision-makers. Their complementary expertise will help inform the organization’s strategic direction, deepen relationships with partners and funders, and position the CCA to expand the reach, relevance, and impact of its work.
